You See What You Want To See
You See What You Want To See
“Still life” is a term in the visual arts referring to a genre of painting or photography that depicts objects like fruits, flowers, or everyday items. The aim is to capture the beauty, texture, and details of these subjects. Often, people only see the external appearance, but most significant things happen within the heart. Our source of life comes from a heart full of hope for something better and dreams for tomorrow. Perception is often limited by one’s focus on external appearances, while the deeper, hidden beauty and essence may go unnoticed. In my painting, I use a golden frame to symbolize the boundaries of our lives, enclosing a shell with its intricate swirls and textures. The sky and sea reflect the vastness and freedom of our world. Yet, the life of the shell resides within, hidden from view. Without life, it is merely an empty shell. Similarly, if humans focus only on their external appearance without nurturing their hearts, their source of life will fade. Appearance may change over time, but the beauty of the heart remains everlastingly radiant.
